A Dedicated Family of Chefs

We’ve been creating delicious food for over 77 years

From Humble Beginings

The Kababist, an original Central Asian restaurant has a deep and beautiful history in Pakistan. We opened our doors before Partition in August 1945 as a bustling and tasteful restaurant in Quetta called “Café Tehran” and the family tradition has been carried forward.

In the 1950’s Café Tehran re-established itself as at the famous Farah Restaurant on Jinnah Road, Quetta. Families, friends and political leadership, like Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto, Nawab Akber Khan Bughti, Shaikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, Molana Bhashani, Gen. Zia-ul-Haq and other highest Bureaucrats frequented the dining room.

In the spirit of bringing the ambiance and authenticity to the great people of Karachi, our brother Ahmad opened the first kabab house of its kind at the Boat Basin in Clifton namely “The Kababist”. It was the first Restaurant in Karachi which introduced Afghani style family eating, which many have tried to imitate.

Welcome to The Kababist on main Shahrah-e-Faisal, the central artery of Karachi. Experience dining that will take you back through the decades while respecting the modern and the new. We are The Kababists and we are thrilled to meet you, again
